ENFP Relationships: Attracting the Advocate

This Myers-Briggs character is defined as being extraverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceiving. The ENFP personality is one of the more common ones, accounting for about eight percent of the population. Of those who fall into this category, females outnumber men at a ratio of two to one. Finding a balance between the intuitive extravert and the sensitive introvert will be an important part of an ENFP being able to decide what they want out of life. The extravert trait ensures that this character is open-minded and enthusiastic yet the intuitive portion of the personality allows the individual to be thoughtful and insightful. This combination can yield an idealistic individual with a lust for life and an appreciation for the feelings and motives of those around them. They are multi-talented and, to outsiders, seem to be good at everything. Being a perceptive individual, he or she may also look for hidden meanings and is very good at listening to others and offering emotional support. ENFPs have a strong need to be liked by others and can sometimes, especially during childhood, act corny in an effort to be liked.

They want to both help and to be liked and admired by other people, on both an individual and a humanitarian level. This is rarely a problem for the ENFP, as they are outgoing and warm, and genuinely like people. Some ENFPs have a great deal of zany charm, which can ingratiate them to more stodgy types in spite of their unconventionality. ENFPs often have strong, if sometimes surprising, values and viewpoints.

The ENFP draws the INFJ out of their shell in a way the INFJ is okay with and the INFJ gives the ENFP one person who’s interesting enough to hold their attention (at least for a while). Both INFJs and ENFPs often feel misunderstood.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator denotes that there are sixteen different personality categories that people fall into based on their levels of extraversion, intuition, emotionality, and perceptiveness. In the sections to follow, we will focus on one particular type, the ENFP. Before moving onto the segments below, check out this course on the foundation of success and happiness.

Individuals who fall into this personality category can often be found engaging in exploration-based pursuits and analyzing the world around them to determine the connections that exist between all living and non-living things. The insightfulness of ENFP types comes to light when they engage in theoretical discussions, such as the existence of an afterlife or the possibility of extraterrestrial beings. They often exhibit high levels of enthusiasm when discussing philosophical topics, as well as their particular hobbies or interests.

As the rarest personality type, we INFJs often feel misunderstood and alone. It lets us know that we are not abnormal, flawed humans. Though these two lists, and others like them, are excellent, I still wanted to add my voice to the mix. Which brings us to the first point:

“The ENFP personality is a true free spirit. They are often the life of a party. But unlike others, they are less in the excitement of the moment than they are interested in enjoying the social and emotional connections they make with people.

Everyone may respond to these feelings in different ways. Here is how each personality type responds to their jealous emotions. They can sense if someone is drifting away from them, or if that someone is going behind their back. Because of this the INFJ may become jealous and upset over their significant others actions.

An INFJ who has experienced loss and abandonment may use manipulation to convince people to stay present in their lives. If they are used to being betrayed their trust issues may get the better of them. An INFJ who is in a secure relationship will do very well and be capable of maintaining healthy levels of jealousy. Because of this strong need to make others happy, ENFJs may be prone to jealousy.

September 16, 84 shares ENFPs are among some of the most positive and most influential personalities that walk among us. But this may seem overwhelming to some people as it creates a misrepresentation of who they are. How does the ENFP personality operate? But, this goal gets kind of lost in the mix because for ENFPs enjoying the moment can be really difficult. ENFPs battle their constant worry about how the many facets of life work together with lots of planning.

Once upon a time, I told my sister, “I don’t think I’d ever date an ENFP.” Even though I’d seen lots of people describing ENFP-INFJ as a “perfect” pairing it just didn’t sound like a good fit for me.

Introversion I Extraversion means that energy is derived from the outside world while Introversion means that energy is derived from within the self. The colloquial meanings of these terms differ somewhat from the technical Myers-Briggs definitions, as most people mistakenly equate Extraversion to popularity or likeability. Thinking plays a bigger role in those aspects.

Intuition N This is how a person perceives what is happening. A Sensor would see the physical, the facts, and the static relationships of objects and events. An Intuitive would see the abstract meanings, the movement, and the trends behind objects and events. Surgeons and accountants are likely Sensors, while philosophers and research scientists are likely Intuitives. Thinking T This is how a person makes decisions. A Feeler would form conclusions based on their values, taking into account other people’s feelings and subjectivity.

A Thinker would form conclusions based on their objective logic, focusing on the task rather than people.

So I had a revelation about a few weeks ago I’m a confident 7, well-spoken girl but have always wondered why I’m having such issues with attracting the right type of guys when I have such a well-rounded personality. So I started to experiment with how I acted around guys. I became more feminine, I would act more sweet, talk less, be less witty or sarcastic and it was crazy how many more guys came flocking to me. It was kind of disheartening though that I had to become this demure thing to attract more guys.

I felt like I was compromising myself, and at times not even being myself because I had to bite my tongue so much and watch what I said. I don’t want to be a bobblehead airhead girl, but it seems as though that’s what guys want. How do I attract the men I want without compromising myself? You only think of behaving in a more feminine manner as “compromising yourself” because you’ve been conditioned to think of your personal value in purely masculine terms.
